This ten-week class (or nine-week series when two testing weeks are combined) is for seriously dating and engaged couples considering first-time marriage. You will do some personality-matching, skill-building in communication and conflict resolution, go through your finances, explore roles and expectations, understand the influence of family of origin on your relationship, and refine your sexual and emotional intimacy needs. Cost of $200 per couple includes all personality assessments, two books and DVD use, and a breakfast brunch before class.

Family of Origin - First Dance

First Dance won Brides magazine's Program of the Year in 2007 as the best addition a couple could add to their marriage-planning experience. The basis: Wedding planning highlights everything you will ever need to know in order to actively integrate your individual families of origin and values into your marriage, with your eyes wide open. You will love the contents of this video vignette.
Communication & Conflict Resolution
Alexandra & Don Flecky, nationally-recognized teachers
This para-professional husband/wife team has multiple conflict-resolution training. They have done training internationally and with bilingual couples. You will talk, and more importantly, listen differently when you finish this class.

However, all of us bring a history to our marriage that often corrupts our patterns, desires, and expectations. Reviews what you are bringing to the table and helps you start out on the right path.
Sex

Depending on your experiences and history, sexual relations between a husband and wife can be a gift from God, a duty to perform, or worse yet, a curse from the devil. This class is focused on getting your sex life off to a great start. You are in for a surprise.

Taylor Johnson Temperament Analysis (TJTA):
Early in the class, you will be given several instruments to take that will provide the two of you with substantial computer-generated reports about your relationship. This particular instrument will focus on both of your individual personality patterns and the pattern you see in your finance. You will also receive a couple profile, with its own report.
Prepare/Couple Check-Up Evaluation:
This instrument also generates a substantial report for the two of you and actually identifies 80% of the couples who will report high level marital satisfaction five years into the marriage. Will you be one of those couples? You will find some really interesting things to talk about as you work through the eleven different areas of your relationship.

Money and handling of finances are two of the leading causes of stress in relationships that lead to divorce. You will learn about the different roles men and women play in regard to handling money, understanding budgets, and the importance of handling money God's way.

People say it because it is true. We often choose a spouse who will "fill out" one individual's shortcomings, patterns, personality, and interests. That is what makes them attractive initially: they are different than us and we are each intrigued. But, those differences can drive you crazy if you are not prepared for them.
Marriages Across the Lifecycle (panel)
Panel members range in age from 24 to 70 years, with marriage lengths from one year with no children to 45 years with adult children and grandchildren. You have never heard a panel like this - eight straight-talking, vulnerable, hitting on the issues, all while still remaining marriage-lovers.
